The Progressive Woman
Sharing The Dignity across the nation with Rochelle Courtenay
Show Notes

Today we are talking to Rochelle, Mother, Grandmother, ex-Personal trainer and the Founder of ‘Share the Dignity’, a charity that works to provide at-risk women across the nation with sanitary products.

Rochelle and I dive into her past and how netball taught her about mate-ship and the strength of women bonding over a common goal. As a player and coach many of her lessons learnt in this sport is how she has built a strong network and foundation across the Nation.

Her upbringing in domestic violence taught her to get back up time and time again, and she attributes her strength to the family life she experienced.

On the topic of Period poverty Rochelle shares the time when she first read of the 48,000 homeless women in a Mamamia article in 2015. She was shocked to find that women were without basic needs and using socks and newspapers during their menstrual cycles.

She began her quest for giving the dignity back to women as a Personal Trainer, asking her clients to bring pads and tampons for every wine they drank that month, giving those items to local shelters which then lead to her founding 'Share the Dignity'.

Rochelle’s passion oozes through the stories we discuss, the triumphs and tribulations she has witnessed of other women, youth and families.

'The need is so great' she says, and we are the solution.

As we dive into Rochelle’s story and share each of our perspectives and experiences we invite you to lean into your own story.
 Have you felt similar?
Do you resonate? and if so how?

As we share our stories we give permission for ourselves to rise above the narratives and honour our unique journeys. Plus we give permission for others to deepen too, we can raise the frequencies of each other by storytelling, sharing and connecting.

If you've resonated with this episode or any of Season 1 we would love to hear from you by leaving a comment, subscribing or sharing with another woman who may need to hear these stories.
